​Game a Week #13: Nomad's Sky​


What went right:

  • Completed all the features on my list that I wanted to have for the game. And considering the fact that I began this project on Tuesday and finished it Friday instead of my intended Sunday through Saturday schedule, I was quite pleased with the final project. 
  • Got the game to an almost finished state to where I could simply add more content and tweak the formula a bit and it could be a final product.

What went wrong: 

  • I did originally record my process creating the actual project, but ran into problems with the software to edit videos so I decided to scratch out the actual video, but do plan on making videos of my creative process in the future.
  • The CIRCULAR movement for objects in CTF 2.5 didn't quite work the way I wanted it for planets, I could get the planets to move in a circular pattern around the star, but I could not get the planet to stay at the same location when switching back to the star system frame from the planet surface frame. It would simply reset to the original starting location.

What I learned:

  • I didn't really challenge my self a whole lot this week as I had really been wanting to make this prototype for a while and already knew almost exactly what I needed to accomplish the project.
